Young Thug/Slime Season Review

Slime season is Young Thug's latest project after his recent album Barter 6 which didn't do to well , the album sold 15,000 the first week. Since then Young Thug presence in the music scene has blossomed for many reasons whether it being admitting 90% of his clothing is women or his on going saga with the Rapper known as "The Game" and his manager in prison for allegedly shooting Lil Wanyes tour bus.Young Thug undoubtedly has talent with his unique sound that has created underground smash hits like Stoner, With That, Check and Lifestyle but he fails to work with other established artist which could be the holy grail to his career. On his latest album Barter 6 the biggest artist that are involved with his album are Boosie,T.I and Birdman these artist are credible for the work they put in the music scene over the past years however the majority of music fans won't be excited to hear there features. If Young Thug chooses to work with artist that are currently doing well in the music e.g. his label mate Fetty Wap he might get the respect he deserves.

On his latest mix-tape Slime Season we hear a diverse side to Young Thug. The hit single for Slime Season "Bestfriend" caught the attention of many people for it bizarre/comedic video and the catchy chorus. We start the mix-tape with a track produced by "London on da Track" called "Take Kare" featuring Lil Wayne (his idol). This is a bizarre track to put on his mix-tape because he's allegedly in an ongoing feud with Lil Wayne this may be a sign he wants to smooth things over with Lil Wayne or Young Thug may just be trying to get a negative response from Lil Wayne so he gets more attention. Track 2 which is titled "Quaterback" which is featuring PeeWee and two members of the Migos Offset and Quavo , it has potential to be a hit single. This song seems like a track that will played in a club in other words its a "Turn up" song however the verse from Peewee is surprisingly good but you just wonder why could he get Takeoff who is the leader of the Migos to do a verse instead of him. Track 3 titled "Rarri" has definitely got potential to be a hit single but he needs a big artist to feature on the track instead Young Ralph who was on his album features on it. As i said Young Thug's unwillingness to work with others is stunting his growth in his career. Track 4 "Stunna" is a good song but he released it early this year so it nothing new to my ears, the song has a great chorus which is very catchy and easy to remember.

Loads of his songs Mix-tape are what i call "filler-songs" they are songs that are on the mix-tape to make up numbers however the next few tracks i'll discuss are my favorite and strongly advise you to listen to even if you don't like Young Thug. Track 8 titled "No Way" is why i'm a fan of Young Thug, this track is produced by "London On Da Track". This track has beautiful melody to it and shows his lyrical ability. Track 13 Titled "Again" featuring Gucci Mane is a great track and this also shows Young thugs lyrical abilities and also his ability to created a great chorus , Young Thug has recently released a video for this song and has over 10 million views. Track 14 "Thats All" shows a retro style to young thug , we hear Young Thug at his finest on this track and shows his ability to make a good song. Overall i'll rate this mix-tape 7/10 because we see the potential of Young Thug and some good tracks however we heard 5 songs on the mix-tape before , he also fails to feature big artist on the mix-tape. Young Thug has a few new projects on the way like his new album titled "Hy!£UN35" and a collaborative mix-tape with the Migos which i'm looking forwarded to name "MigosXThuggin" and he recently announced Slime Season is on the way.
